There are two types of data in a standard business practice:

Master Data Types : There are three types of Master Data in BI

1) Attributes :

 

Attributes are Info Objects that are logically subordinate to a Characteristics and cannot be selected in the query.

  6. Transitive Attributes

 

  1. a) Display and Navigational Attributes :

Characteristics Attributes can be converted into Navigational Attributes, they can be selected in the query in exactly with the same way as the Characteristics from an Info Cube.

 

In this case a new edge dimension is added to the Info Cube.

 

During the data selection for the query the Manager connects the Info Provider and the Master Data Table (join).  In order to fill the query :

If you want to Navigate in the query using the Cost Centre Manager, we have to create Attribute – Cost Centre Manager as Navigation Attribute and flag it as a Navigational Characteristic in the Info Provider.
